The Author

Greetings! My name's Artika and I'm just a typical Singaporean teenager. I will be turning 18 this October 23rd and attending Ngee Ann's School of Health Sciences (Nursing) this April. People say I'm sensitive, insecure and hard to be with. I say there's more to a person than just a third party's judgement.

For the first time after four years, I had never felt so scared in my life before the release of the results. When we found out that no one from my class were top scorers, my heart sank. Everyone from my class started to tear. The class which was supposed to be better than the rest ended up being the lowest. We had upset ourselves and most importantly, our teachers. A few minutes later when it was time for our teachers to distribute our individual results, my heart pounded so loudly that I can feel my chest vibrating.

First, Erlyyana got in. I remembered how hard she cried with tears of joy. Same goes for Noraini, Khairiyah, Maziah and Nazirah. When it was my turn, my confidence level went to the lowest it could get despite the fact that everyone else have gotten promoted so far. I couldn't remember what the teachers said. But I almost teared with joy when Miss Neo showed me my booklist for next year. I got in.

I've achieved twelve points with three distinctions. I can never feel more proud of myself. I expected a fifteen or sixteen. But a twelve? I'm now beyond the valley of happiness :) In the end, I found out that my whole class got promoted. I could never feel more thrilled. The first person I called was my dad. I was already crying on the phone while telling him my results. After that, I didn't think of anything else. The wait is over and everything else is gonna start all over again.

There may not be any top scorers in my class. But at least all of us will be together and that's what matters the most. Well, that if we decided not to go to Higher Nitec. But one thing's for sure, I'm not leaving :]

Congrats to everyone and well done to all of us for increasing the number of students eligible for promotion (59% to 77% excluding through train). It's gonna be the final lap next year and I hope that we'll do just as well.
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

On the second thought, I've got to survive another sucky year of secondary school and everything is gonna be a zillion times harder. Okay no joke. Study well Artix!
